What is the history of Accessorize?
Accessorize is a British private limited company that operates two international retail clothing chains – Monsoon and Accessorize. The company was started in London in 1973 by Peter Simon, a market-stall trader, and opened its first shop in Beauchamp Place in May of that year. The first Accessorize shop opened in 1984, next door to Monsoon in Covent Garden. In 1994, a registered charity, the Monsoon Accessorize Trust, was set up to help under-privileged women and children in Asia. The company was listed on the Stock Exchange in 1998. In 2007, Simon paid £185 million to take it private again. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Monsoon Accessorize went into administration and was then bought by its founder, who planned 35 UK store closures with the loss of 545 jobs. The company also confirmed the closure of Monsoon Accessorize stores in the Republic of Ireland. Peter Simon bought it out of bankruptcy in late 2022.
Can I return items to Accessorize.com?
Yes, you can return items to Accessorize.com. They accept returns free of charge from the UK and ROI, but customers returning orders from outside of the UK and ROI will be liable for the cost of return. If you return an item outside of their 30-day returns period, they will issue a refund in the form of an eGift Card. Items should be returned exactly as you received them in a new and unused condition within 30 days of receipt (14 days for outlet or sale pieces). If the product seal is broken or labels removed, they will not be able to refund you. Certain items such as pierced goods (earrings), face masks, knickers, hosiery, confectionary or cosmetics are not refundable for hygiene reasons. Gift Cards and eGift Cards are also non-refundable. The cost for gift wrapping is non-refundable. Orders made with PayPal, Clear Pay and Klarna must be returned to their warehouse and cannot be returned in store. Refunds can take 2-3 working days to be processed from the day it is posted back to them. You will receive an email once your refund has been processed. If you have paid with a credit or debit card or Apple Pay your refund will show back on your account within 10 working days, depending on whom you bank with. Paypal, Clear Pay and Klarna can take up to 7 days to reflect any refunds and, where applicable, make any adjustments to your balance. If you have used a Gift Card or Treats Voucher you will be issued with a new eGift card which will be sent to the email address on the order.
